civic society building awards

Shrewsbury Civic Society has a biannual programme to make awards for building projects according to a variety of different categories. The awards for 2016 and 2018 are listed below. Although a programme had been initiated for 2020, this had to be abandoned in the face of Covid19 restrictions. We hope to resurrect the awards for 2023 – scroll down to the bottom of the page to see how you can participate.

HOW TO TAKE PART IN THE AWARDS PROGRAMME

There are normally three separate categories for an award – new buildings, renovated/refurbished buildings and shopfronts (either new or refurbished). Awards in these categories are usually made for the period between the last awards (in this case 2018) and September of the year in which the current awards are being made.

Anyone can make a nomination for an award – you do not have to be a member of Shrewsbury Civic Society and you do not have to own the building being nominated. You can make more than one nomination – Shrewsbury Civic Society welcomes a range of different buildings for consideration. Awards will be formally presented at a ceremony in the Bear Steps Hall, which will be announced in due course.

To submit a nomination, either email info@shrewsburycivicsociety.co.uk, or phone 01743 344994, or drop into the Bear Steps Hall and speak to one of our stewards or write to Building Awards, Shrewsbury Civic Society, Bear Steps, Shrewsbury, SY1 1UH.

SCS wants to recognise the excellent buildings of Shrewsbury and hopefully give builders of the future something to aspire to.  SCS wants the people involved in building to know that buildings which deserve to be recognised will receive a positive accolade. Please do participate.
