CIVIC SOCIETY STATEMENT ON THE NORTH WEST RELIEF ROAD
On Thursday 11th June 2020, the Council of Management of Shrewsbury Civic Society passed the following statement in regard of the North West Relief Road:
“On the information that is currently available on the impact of the NWRR on reducing congestion, reducing air pollution and reducing carbon in line with the Council’s declaration of a climate emergency, the Civic Society is of the view that the case for the road has not been made to a satisfactory standard. If a planning application for the NWRR project appears, as the proposal stands at present, the Civic Society would object. We would urge Shropshire Council to seriously consider whether a project conceived more than 40 years ago is still appropriate”.
